However: you should know that it goes relatively much faster if you puzzle with 4 people. If you divide the 1000 pieces by 4, each one makes a puzzle of 250 pieces.
The program puzzle world record (for making a puzzle of 1000 pieces the fastest) stands for 2 people at 1 hour, 1 minute and 29 seconds, converted to one person that is 31 minutes as a record time for the whole world. If you divide the 1000 pieces by 2, each one makes a puzzle of 500 pieces.
It takes me about 8 hours a puzzle of 1000 pieces by Jan van Haasteren. That's roughly the average. I love all the puzzles I put together to keep up with the times.
How long does it take you to complete a 1000 piece puzzle depends on what?
How long it takes you to complete a puzzle depends on many factors. I can mention the following:
- Is the puzzle easy or difficult?
That is, if you have a puzzle with many surfaces of exactly the same color, it will be very difficult to make and it will certainly take you much longer. For example, I have this one HEMA photo puzzle made of myself:
As you can see, there is a large completely white area at the top right of the puzzle, and you also see a completely smaller white area on the right side of the puzzle. In the end I spent 13 hours on this puzzle. Laying those white squares was really a matter of fitting each puzzle piece 1 by 1. That didn't make me happy and it took a very long time! And a puzzle with many surfaces of the same color is much more difficult and it takes you much longer anyway - How good are you at puzzles?
Some people are very good at puzzling and are very good at remembering things visually. that certainly makes a difference with puzzling, you see some people take 1 piece and immediately place it somewhere in the right place in the puzzle. They have memorized the image and the colors together and immediately know that that puzzle piece belongs there. - Are you fanatic or not?
Some people really want to do puzzles at their leisure and take it very slowly. But you also have people who feel a kind of drive to complete the puzzle as quickly as possible. Your attitude to puzzles also determines how quickly you can put a puzzle together - The quality of the puzzle itself
That may sound strange, but I have experienced it myself, really very cheap puzzles, it seems that every piece fits into another piece. That is very demotivating, because then you start to doubt, especially if you can't see it well from the colors. Of the really good puzzles you immediately feel whether a piece fits into another piece or not - How long have you been puzzling – do you have a strategy?
If you puzzle a little longer you can certainly get better at it and you sometimes even learn a certain strategy for your jigsaw puzzle. If you want all that at all, of course. Apparently the people at the NK puzzle sort the pieces by color, and they do NOT start with the edges (!). I always start with the edges, and I think that's the best puzzling. I'm not going to do it any other way because of time, for example.
What is the fastest time for making a 1000 piece puzzle in the Netherlands?
For several years now it has become NK puzzle organized. During the Dutch National Championships puzzling, a Jan van Haasteren puzzle of 1000 pieces is placed by 4 people in the fastest possible time. This Jan van Haasteren puzzle is made especially for this NK puzzle; all participants see this puzzle for the first time. No one can have an edge that way. What was the winning team from 2019, with four people?
The team 'Puzzle Madness 1' took 58 minutes and 41 seconds on the JvH puzzle of 1000 pieces, this puzzle was called 'NK puzzles'. The number 2, 'Puzzle cats' took 1 hour, 8 minutes and 4 seconds. What is the fastest time for making a 1000 piece puzzle in the world - 1000 piece puzzle world record?
I looked up the fastest time in the world for making a puzzle of 1000 pieces, and came across the book of alternative world records (assuming that what this website states is correct). There it is stated that the time it took 2 people to complete a puzzle of 1000 pieces was: 1 hour, 1 minute and 29 seconds, this puzzle was made by Joellen Beifuss and Pam Kerstetter (USA) during the 'US National Jigsaw Puzzle Championships 1986 in Ohio, America'. But that is incredibly fast, by 2 people!!

How long does a 1500 piece puzzle take?
About 5 hours is about the average. But then you do have the good and fast puzzlers. For comparison: someone who participated in the Dutch Championships takes about 3,5 hours to complete a puzzle of 1000 pieces, and that came very close to the winning time (2019) with her team. If I compare it with my own puzzle performance, it would take me about 1000-7 hours to complete a 8 piece puzzle (Jan van Haasteren) and about 1500-10 hours to complete a 12 piece puzzle. I couldn't find any time on the world record for a puzzle of 1500 pieces, or the fastest time on a puzzle of 1500 pieces in the Netherlands.
