Christmas Puzzle – Christmas (750 Pieces)

Figure 1
Figure 2
Name Puzzle Christmas or Holiday Laughs
Number of Pieces 750
Number 2986-36
Year of Issue 2011
Issue by Ceaco, Holiday Laughs
draftsman Jan van Haasteren
DescriptionThis is a puzzle by Jan van Haasteren 750 pieces and certainly very special because it is the only puzzle ever released by Jan van Haasteren in 750 pieces and this is a publication of the American puzzle manufacturer Ceaco. You will also see 'Made in the USA' at the top right of the puzzle. Rare? Yes, because you have to import it from America. This is often done via eBay and that entails quite a few costs, such as import duties and import costs. And what is the title of this puzzle? It is of course a very well-known puzzle: the image of the puzzle is not rare at all because it is 'Christmas' or 'Christmas' or 'Christmas'. This 'Christmas' has been released in all kinds of other variants with other puzzle manufacturers. On the Ceaco variant here you see the name 'Holiday Laughs', which literally means 'Christmas laughter'. That is the literal translation of this name and which you see at the bottom of the puzzle box. However, the official title is called 'Christmas or Holiday Laughs'. The puzzle was released in 2011 and here is also the puzzle number 2986-3. There is no poster included so you have to make do with this very small box and this small image and what is also true is that the puzzle pieces are the typical Ceaco have puzzle piece shapes. I always find them very beautiful - the different shapes of the puzzle pieces. The box also contains a card with 'which team made this puzzle'. So that is 'Team 211 Quality control department with email qc@edaron.com. That's old, I don't think edaron.com exists anymore. It's all become Ceaco these days. Very rare copy!

DescriptionThe puzzle 'Christmas' is great fun to make. With many typical items that you can expect during Christmas. The setting is a busy Christmas Eve probably in a fairly large city. I suspect that many people still have to do their Christmas shopping. Because it's chaos during Christmas in this puzzle. A typical Jan van Haasteren jigsaw puzzle. There is also a lot to see and discover in this puzzle. The longer you look, the more you see.

DescriptionThis puzzle depicts a scene of a Christmas Eve at people's homes. You see a lot of snow on the roofs of the houses. A Santa and a reindeer fall down from a roof and Santa hangs from the gutter. There is a lot of Christmas lights hanging on the fences and the houses of the people. All in all it looks very cosy. You also see in a garden that people are going to have a Christmas dinner outside, probably with family and friends. Seems a bit cold to me by the way πŸ™‚ You also see an ice rink in a garden, a man is running with a Christmas tree.

DescriptionThe second puzzle in this box: 'The Christmas Dinner' – here things get quite out of hand, as was to be expected with a Jan van Haasteren puzzle! The jigsaw puzzle 'Christmas dinner' is really a super fun puzzle to make. An awful lot is happening. The Christmas dinner was very busy this year and there are also a number of waiters in the service. You can also see Jan van Haasteren himself on this puzzle, but it all gets a bit too much for him.

Put on hats and gloves and get off that mountain! Snowy trees and sleds! Cold and snow that is what suits winter. This puzzle was published in 2023 - Jan van Haasteren is now 87 years old! DescriptionIt's a really fun puzzle to solve, not too difficult. It's also quite nice πŸ™‚ It creates a beautiful representation of what the Margriet Winter Fair is really like in Utrecht, with workshops, performances, music, food, drinks, etc. A great event with lots of activities. Rob Derks has clearly done a lot of research on this event. I didn't know it existed myself, but after some research, it turns out this fair still exists in 2021. UPDATE - as of 2025, I see that THE Winter Fair will be held in the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch. A major event that lasts six days. Still a Margriet/Libelle event.

Overview of all Jan van Haasteren Christmas puzzles

View a complete overview of all Jan van Haasteren Christmas puzzles

Other Jan van Haasteren puzzle themes?

You can look for puzzles with a pool or swimming theme, but there are several. Everyone puzzles differently and some people puzzle according to the time of year, or if an event is coming up. During New Year's Eve, for example, you can do puzzles with the puzzle about the New Year's Dive. I have made an overview of a number of other JvH themes:
Jan van Haasteren Swimming pool
Jan van Haasteren Camping or Camping
Jan van Haasteren Winter

Search books with the theme 'Christmas'

You can also use search books when creating the puzzles with the "Christmas" theme. Not all puzzles come with a poster and a search book makes puzzling easier. A search book contains a fairly large picture of the Christmas puzzles. Or that you just use it as a real search book. Which search books match these Christmas puzzles? Or: which puzzles with the theme 'Christmas' are in these search books? I have made an overview. You can in any case 'use' the following search books:
– Jan van Haasteren Search book: December Search Book (8 search plates / puzzles are in there)
– Jan van Haasteren Search book: winter fun (8 search plates / puzzles are in there) – this one is a little less in line with 'Christmas'
– Jan van Haasteren Search book: Christmas (4 search plates / puzzles are in there)
