More about this puzzle

I made the puzzle 'Dog Parkour' - this is number 1110100322, issued on September 7, 2024. This puzzle is drawn by Dick Heins. It is this puzzle:

and this is the box:

What exactly is a Dog Course (Agility Course)?

A dog course, also known as a dog agility course, is an obstacle course specifically designed for dogs. It consists of various obstacles such as tunnels, jumps, slalom poles, gangplanks and seesaws. The goal is for the dog to complete these obstacles as quickly and accurately as possible under the guidance of a handler, often the owner. This sport promotes cooperation between dog and handler and requires both speed and precision from the dog. It is often practiced as a competitive sport, but also recreationally to challenge the dog physically and mentally.
I have another nice video about a dog course – you actually call this 'Dog Agility', and you see a lot of recognizable elements in the Dick Heins puzzle:

Mr. and Mrs. Cake in this puzzle!

Well, perhaps from now on there will be a new recurring element in some puzzles, namely: Mr. and Mrs. Cake!
Here you see Mr. and Mrs. Cake:

These people are actually called 'Theo and Corrie van der Poel from Sliedrecht' They are two volunteers who help 'Jan van Haasteren Missing Pieces'. How did this come about? It came about because of 'JvH Missing Pieces'. If you don't know what 'JvH Missing Pieces' does, then read it here. In short:
“For those who don’t know Mr. and Mrs. Cake. They help us (JvH Missing Pieces) with putting together puzzles. About once a month, when we have puzzles, they come by to get puzzles and bring back completed puzzles to us. For every 1th puzzle they put together for us, they treat us to cake. Very tasty but also a bit crazy, because we should really thank them for something. Since May 75, they have, with their network, already put together 2022 puzzles for us. A few months ago, I (from JvH Missing Pieces) was approached by Dick Heins. He wanted to use 526 of our volunteers in a puzzle. Mr. and Mrs. Cake! Of course, all our volunteers are equally dear to us and we make no distinction. But Dick thought the title we had given them was so funny that it would serve as a symbol for all our volunteers. ”

Now you can see for real who Mr. and Mrs. Cake are:

Laying this puzzle

It wasn't a difficult puzzle, I finished it pretty quickly, but it was a fun one! I always start by laying the puzzle on a puzzle mat. And then I start laying the edges, you can see that here:

I always start by laying out the same colored areas. I started by laying out the fences in the park – something dogs always like to hang out in! And the water on the far left with the octopus in it:

Several steps within the dog course where the dogs run or climb over, had striking colors:

and finally I finished the puzzle:

A review video of this puzzle

I made a video with fixed recurring elements and fun elements from this puzzle:

Nice – I got a comment under the video from JvHOntbrekendestukjes:
“Just two more additions. At number 2 you see the pedicure of Dick Heins on the right. And at number 10 you also see a reference to our project Jvhontbrekendestukjes a poster with a puzzle pieces and Wanted. This poster is on multiple puzzles. Nicely done!”
So then it must be this:
1) Pedicure by Dick Heins:

2) Poster with reference to JvH Missing Pieces – puzzle piece Wanted:

How long will it take you to complete this 1000 piece puzzle?

I made the puzzle 'Dog course' in peace and quiet and it took me several days. Nicely made on a puzzle mat on the floor in the living room. I do take the time, but not very precisely, puzzling remains a hobby! But to give you an idea of how long it took me to make this JvH puzzle of 1000 pieces:

About Jumbo puzzles

Jumbo_Logo
Jumbo (not to be confused with our supermarket Jumbo!) makes toys, games and puzzles. Jumbo, for example, has made the very well-known games such as “Human don't get annoyed” and “Stratego” and “PimPamPet”. Games that have been around for generations and are still widely played by both young and old. Jumbo has been making and developing toys since about 1900. In the early years of the company, only toys from other countries were imported to the Netherlands. However, since about 1930 it was decided to also make their own toys, at the time manufacturing wooden toys, which was very popular at the time. Almost all toys in those years were made of wood. An important spearhead was that the toys made by Jumbo had to be of very good quality; it had to be as strong as an Elephant. An elephant had to stand on it! The red elephant has been the hallmark of Jumbo's games and puzzles for years. The name Jumbo and the red elephant together form the logo from about 1935. The Jumbo elephant is drawn by Mr. Möhr. He worked at an advertising agency and regularly signed for Hausemann & Hötte. Mr Möhr was at one point commissioned to design a beautiful new elephant logo for the Hausemann & Hötte toys. The logo has changed a bit since then. For example, the eye has grown over the years and has dropped slightly more, resulting in a friendlier elephant.

In the past, the elephant was not only used in the color red, but in all kinds of colors such as blue, yellow, black, white and green. All those colors were cozy and playful. For example, one time there was a yellow elephant on the box and the other time a red one. It was usually looked at which color best matched the color of the box. It was not until the end of the 60s that the red elephant was definitively chosen. Red is a color that stands out and attracts attention.

From 1945 Jumbo also started to focus on games made of cardboard. Jumbo has therefore been a guarantee for strong quality for years! Jumbo is a unique Dutch company with a rich history, with its head office in Zaandam. About 130 employees work for Jumbo. With a turnover of €75 million, Jumbo is a medium-sized European player in toys. Jumbo has sales offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. They export to more than 25 countries around the world.

In 1980 Jumbo starts the production of Jan van Haasteren Puzzles.
