Jan van Haasteren Christmas Advent Calendar (2025)
What is an Advent calendar?
A Christmas advent calendar is a special calendar used to count down the days until Christmas, starting on December 1 and ending on December 24. Each day, a small box, door or hatch is opened, revealing a small surprise or image. Traditionally, an advent calendar contains Christian symbols or images related to the birth of Jesus, but modern versions can contain all sorts of surprises, such as chocolates, toys, small gifts or even cosmetics. Advent calendars are popular with both children and adults and are a fun way to build up the festive spirit of Christmas. They can also be part of the Christmas decorations in the home. Advent calendars come in all sorts of shapes and themes, ranging from simple paper calendars to luxury versions with expensive gifts or themed contents such as Lego, wine or tea.
The second Jan van Haasteren Advent Calendar!
In 2024, the first Jan van Haasteren Advent calendar was publishedThat was a huge success. This puzzle will be available starting September 13, 2025. I think many can't wait until December 1st to start playing it.
This is an Advent puzzle (2025)
There are 24 puzzles in total, each with 54 pieces. If you've read the explanation above, it's clear why there are 24 puzzles in this entire puzzle. Behind each curtain is a puzzle, and after 24 days, you can assemble them as you see fit, creating your own "apartment building." The puzzles were drawn by Rob Derks and colored by Mars Gremmen. The Advent calendar artwork was drawn by Jan van Haasteren. In short: The puzzles were drawn by Rob Derks, who created the original line drawings and the characteristic scenes. Mars Gremmen colored these drawings, adding color and atmosphere. The artwork for the Advent calendar itself was created by Jan van Haasteren, who provided the large and recognizable main illustration for the "suitcase" / "front" / "back" of the Advent calendar. So, it's actually a co-production by the artists of the Jan van Haasteren Studio. Dimensions per puzzle are: 16,6 wide x 11,3 cm high

Life hack – you can also take the puzzles out of the box differently
I didn't know this life hack last year either. But now I heard it from a fellow puzzler. There are two stickers at the bottom of the box. You can loosen one (or both) and then slide the entire drawer of puzzles out of the box. This way, you can also start laying out the puzzles without removing them from the top of the puzzle box. This way, the puzzle box stays completely intact! Definitely recommended if you want to sell the puzzle box after you've finished it. It looks like this:
