I found it a nice puzzle to put together, but the figures were drawn quite large, and there were few surprising details. I also put together a printing error. Oh well, a nice puzzle.

More about this puzzle
I made the puzzle 'Kunnen wij het maken?' or 'Can we fix it?' – this is number 1110100809. It was released on January 17, 2026. The artist is Jan van Haasteren. That's this puzzle:

Please note: there are two different versions of *Can we make it?*
There has been quite a stir surrounding the 1000-piece Jan van Haasteren puzzle *Can We Do It?*. In fact, there are two versions of this puzzle in circulation: an incorrect version in which part of the image is missing, and a corrected version with the complete image.
What went wrong with this puzzle?
With the first version of *Kannen we het maken?*, it turned out that a large part of the original drawing did not make it onto the puzzle. A border of the image is missing on all four sides – top, bottom, left, and right. As a result, the image you are actually puzzling is smaller than the image shown on the box. Consequently, various details and well-known Jan van Haasteren elements that are visible on the box are missing from the puzzle. A good example is the dog Max. In the complete image, Max can be seen at the window, but due to the missing outer border, he is not visible on the faulty version of the puzzle.
First, just a new poster
Understandably, several puzzlers were dissatisfied with this error. Initially, an attempt was made to resolve the problem by sending along a new, modified poster. Of course, this did not solve the real problem. After all, the puzzle itself remained the erroneous version, on which a significant portion of the image was missing. Ultimately, it was decided to send the affected puzzlers a new, corrected puzzle after all. This version features the complete image, including the outer edges that were missing from the first version.
Be careful when buying this puzzle second-hand
Do you want to buy *Kunnen we het maken?* second-hand, for example via Marktplaats? Then it is wise to check beforehand which version you are buying. The tricky part is that you cannot immediately tell from the box whether the incorrect or the corrected puzzle is inside. Therefore, if in doubt, ask the seller if it is the complete, corrected version. It is even better to ask for a photo of the completed puzzle. You can then check whether the outer edges of the image are actually present. The incorrect version can, of course, still be put together. However, keep in mind that you will not be puzzling the complete image shown on the box. For collectors, this particular misprint might actually be of interest.
In short: both an incorrect and a corrected version of *Kunnen we het maken?* are in circulation. Especially when buying this Jan van Haasteren puzzle second-hand, it is wise to check carefully which version is in the box.

Laying this puzzle
I always do all the puzzles in one puzzle mat, and as you can see, I sort out the straight edges. I haven't missed a single edge piece, and I always start by laying the edges:

How long will it take you to complete this 1000 piece puzzle?
I completed the puzzle 'Can we make it?' at my leisure and took several days to do so. Nicely on a puzzle mat made on the floor in the living room. I do take the time, but not very precisely, it remains a hobby that puzzles! But to give you an idea of how long it took me to complete this 1000 piece JvH puzzle:
- Explaining the pieces: 20 minutes
- Laying the edges = 25 minutes
- Laying the rest of the pieces = 5 hours and 15 minutes
- Which made me do this puzzle in total = 6 hours. It used to take me almost always 8 hours, but I have a special tip to be able to puzzle a lot faster
