This puzzle was once made during the Dutch National Championships Puzzle

Nice to know, this puzzle was used during the NK Puzzle. During the preliminary round in Obdam on 26-01-2019, a team consists of 4 people. With 4 people they have put this puzzle in a time of 00:57:15. So if you think you can participate in the Dutch National Championships? Then multiply this time x4 and you have an indication whether you are a fast puzzler. By the way: puzzle the NK is especially fun and fun to participate in!

This is a rare puzzle.

DescriptionThis is certainly a rare puzzle because it is published by the Japanese puzzle manufacturer Beverly Enterprises (BE). I was also able to purchase this puzzle from a Japanese website. You do pay various costs, including transport costs and import costs. However, this puzzle is virtually unavailable in the Netherlands and is therefore truly a collector's item. There is also something special about the numbering of the Beverly Enterprise puzzle. This number is 61-233, where the '233' represents the number of the puzzle and the '6' represents the price code of the Beverly Enterprises puzzles. All puzzles that start with a '6' have the same price. The '1' indicates the number of pieces, where 1 stands for 1000 pieces. If you buy this puzzle you also have a few weeks delivery time. To date, it is known that 8 puzzles were published by Beverly Enterprises in Japan of 1000 pieces, but it is suspected that there were many more. These are so rare that it is almost impossible to trace them. The contents of the box are also different, you will find 'a postcard', a 'fan service coupon' and a 'bag with puzzle glue and sponge'. The puzzle pieces also have different shapes. In my opinion, the puzzle pieces are also slightly thicker and therefore heavier than the regular Jumbo puzzle pieces; they are also smoother - beautiful puzzle pieces I must say! This puzzle is exactly the same as the puzzle 'On the Beach', number 01652, published by Jumbo. Only the box is different. This is not an item for the regular puzzler, but it is for collectors! This puzzle with exactly the same image has also been published by several other puzzle manufacturers (HFW, Ceaco, Jumbo). The Jumbo variant was released in 1999, so this puzzle was at least released after the year 1999 - but the year of release by Beverly Enterprises is unknown. The dimensions of this puzzle are 72x49 centimeters, while the dimensions of a regular puzzle from Jumbo are 68x49 centimeters. Although this is a very rare puzzle, this is not an item for every collector. The price of this puzzle is not very high, but it is certainly worth more than normal. So it is special, it does not mean that a very rare puzzle is always automatically worth a lot. It depends on whether there is a demand for it among collectors.

DescriptionThis puzzle is part of a set of four puzzles published by the New Zealand puzzle manufacturer Holdson Funny World (HFW)This puzzle is numbered 08201, as are three other puzzles in this set. For more information about this entire set, please visit the "Holdson's Funny World puzzles 08201This puzzle is rare because all of them were released in New Zealand. It's also more of a collector's item, as all the plates/drawings from these puzzles were also released in a Jumbo version in the Netherlands. There's a set of older puzzles published by Holdson Funny World—and these boxes all look different from the current, recognizable blue Jumbo puzzle boxes. Many of these boxes have multiple bright colors. A total of 48 of these older puzzles were published by Holdson Funny World (HFW), and these are therefore the rarer ones. You hardly ever see these puzzles on marketplaces like Marktplaats. You really have to look on second-hand puzzle trading platforms near New Zealand and Australia. The downside: if you want to buy one, you have to pay a lot of import duties, and the puzzle often takes a long time to arrive. To this day, Jan van Haasteren puzzles are still published in the familiar blue puzzle box. These puzzles in the familiar blue boxes are NOT rare; you can easily order them from an online store in New Zealand. This puzzle, "At The Beach," numbered 08201, is rare. However, the illustration isn't, as "At The Beach" was also released by other brands, such as Jumbo. Its release by HFW makes it rare and often an instant collector's item. It comes in a beautiful, colorful box with these four colors on the four sides: blue, green, red, and pink. The back of the box shows which four puzzles belong to the "set" numbered 08201.

DescriptionThis is a rare puzzle and that is because this is a publication by the American puzzle manufacturer Ceaco. Within Ceaco you have various puzzle series and this is the edition that falls within the 'Cartoon Capers' series. Within the puzzles of 550 pieces, the Cartoon Capers The Ceaco series has a distinct numbering, running from 2371-01 to 2371-15. There are therefore 15 puzzles of 550 pieces within this Cartoon Capers series. For 'die-hard' puzzle collectors, the challenge is to acquire this entire series. This drawing is of course not unique, as 'At The Beach' has also appeared in other puzzles with different numbers of pieces. However, it is precisely Ceaco that makes this puzzle unique, rarer, and therefore more expensive. This puzzle belongs to the Cartoon Capers series. to the set with Cartoon Capers numbers 2371-01 through 2371-03.

Laying this puzzle

I always do all the puzzles in one puzzle mat, and as you can see, I'm sorting the straight edges out. This is another puzzle made during the winter months so the photos have become darker. Puzzling with the puzzle lamp so always!
Jan van Haasteren 'On the Beach' 1000 pieces Edges and box
I started by placing the pieces with the same colors, in this case the advertising plane above the beach and the windsurfer. Also the lifeboat and the beach house / restaurant on the beach. The blue parts with the sky not yet done, they are often the most difficult.
Jan van Haasteren 'On the Beach' 1000 pieces after 1 hour and 45 minutes
And finally I have to do the people on the beach, you will see some very nice and funny scenes there, but done by Jan van Haasteren:

And finally I finished the puzzle, very nice to make a puzzle from a brand other than Jumbo:

Review video of this puzzle

I made a review video with nice items and fixed recurring elements:

How long will it take you to complete this 1000 piece puzzle?

I completed the puzzle 'At The Beach' in peace and quiet and it took me several days to complete it. Beautifully made on a puzzle mat on the floor in the living room. I do record the time, but not very precisely, puzzling remains a hobby! But to give an idea of how long it took me to complete this JvH puzzle of 1000 pieces:

About Jumbo puzzles

Jumbo_Logo
Jumbo (not to be confused with our supermarket Jumbo!) makes toys, games and puzzles. Jumbo, for example, has made the very well-known games such as “Human don't get annoyed” and “Stratego” and “PimPamPet”. Games that have been around for generations and are still widely played by both young and old. Jumbo has been making and developing toys since about 1900. In the early years of the company, only toys from other countries were imported to the Netherlands. However, since about 1930 it was decided to also make their own toys, at the time manufacturing wooden toys, which was very popular at the time. Almost all toys in those years were made of wood. An important spearhead was that the toys made by Jumbo had to be of very good quality; it had to be as strong as an Elephant. An elephant had to stand on it! The red elephant has been the hallmark of Jumbo's games and puzzles for years. The name Jumbo and the red elephant together form the logo from about 1935. The Jumbo elephant is drawn by Mr. Möhr. He worked at an advertising agency and regularly signed for Hausemann & Hötte. Mr Möhr was at one point commissioned to design a beautiful new elephant logo for the Hausemann & Hötte toys. The logo has changed a bit since then. For example, the eye has grown over the years and has dropped slightly more, resulting in a friendlier elephant.

In the past, the elephant was not only used in the color red, but in all kinds of colors such as blue, yellow, black, white and green. All those colors were cozy and playful. For example, one time there was a yellow elephant on the box and the other time a red one. It was usually looked at which color best matched the color of the box. It was not until the end of the 60s that the red elephant was definitively chosen. Red is a color that stands out and attracts attention.

From 1945 Jumbo also started to focus on games made of cardboard. Jumbo has therefore been a guarantee for strong quality for years! Jumbo is a unique Dutch company with a rich history, with its head office in Zaandam. About 130 employees work for Jumbo. With a turnover of €75 million, Jumbo is a medium-sized European player in toys. Jumbo has sales offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom. They export to more than 25 countries around the world.

In 1980 Jumbo starts the production of Jan van Haasteren Puzzles.

Nice!!

I wrote the above review in February 2024 and made the Japanese version of this puzzle. What a real old-fashioned Jan van Haasteren this was. Plenty of funny and regular recurring elements. You will continue to watch and laugh, even after you have completed the puzzle! And such a recognizable beach scene
