Kruidvat puzzle mats

The Kruidvat puzzle mats are characterized by their low price. Kruidvat is of course known for generally low prices of all their products. Kruidvat currently (December 2020) sells two types of puzzle mats, namely:
1. King Puzzle Mat Puzzle Roll 1000 Pieces including Puzzle Neuschwanstein (Read my review about this puzzle mat)

More about these two puzzle mats

Both puzzle mats are the real well-known green felt mats. And in both cases you roll the green felt mat around hard cardboard tubes. The big advantage is that these two puzzle mats are very cheap and with 1 puzzle mat you even get a puzzle, of which I have read that the quality of these puzzle pieces leaves a lot to be desired. So be prepared before you buy or don't be disappointed if you have bought - know that you also buy a puzzle mat including a puzzle for very little money! There are differences in terms of dimensions and the number of pieces of puzzles you can place on both puzzle mats. I have described these differences below.

The King puzzle mat

The size of this puzzle mat is 1,29 centimeters wide and 65 centimeters high. It is indicated that this puzzle mat can be used for puzzles up to 1500 pieces. That's right. Because a standard dimensions of a puzzle of 1500 pieces is 90 centimeters wide and 60 centimeters high and that of a 1000 piece puzzle is 68 centimeters wide and 49 centimeters high.
However, keep in mind that you cannot roll up all 1000 or 1500 pieces in the puzzle mat; and it doesn't make much sense to lay out the puzzle pieces on the puzzle mat while puzzling; you then have to put them around your puzzle mat. See my explanation on this below.

The Clementoni puzzle mat

The size of this puzzle mat is 105 centimeters wide and 78 centimeters high. It is indicated that this puzzle mat can be used for puzzles up to 2000 pieces. That's right. Because a standard dimensions of a puzzle of 2000 pieces is 98 centimeters wide and 68 centimeters high and that of a 1500 piece puzzle is 90 centimeters wide and 60 centimeters high.
However, keep in mind that you cannot roll up all 1000 or 1500 pieces in the puzzle mat. See my explanation on this below.

Which Kruidvat puzzle mat should I choose?

It is difficult to recommend the right size puzzle mat for everyone. Because it's just what you want. As I described on the page 'how does a puzzle mat work', it depends on what everyone likes to puzzle. For the sake of convenience, I will assume a puzzle of 1000 pieces, and that you need a puzzle mat for that. You have two options here:
1. You like it NOT I'm sorry if all your puzzle pieces DO NOT fit on the puzzle mat - and read my explanation and advice below (!)
For example, it would look like this:

2. You like it WEL I'm sorry if all your puzzle pieces DO NOT fit on the puzzle mat - and read my explanation and advice below (!)
For example, it might look like this – you make sure that your puzzle mat is big enough for ALL 1000 pieces:

Choice of puzzle mat for situation: '1. you find it NOT bad if all your puzzle pieces do NOT fit on the puzzle mat'
In this case you can buy both puzzle mats that Kruidvat offers:
1. King Puzzle Mat Puzzle Roll 1000 Pieces including Puzzle Neuschwanstein
2. Clementoni puzzle mat
Maximum dimensions are then, for example, 117 centimeters (length) x 66 centimeters (height). If you choose these dimensions of a puzzle mat, not all of your 1000 pieces will fit on the puzzle mat! You can certainly make your puzzle from 1000 pieces on your puzzle mat, no problem. Works very well. However, in this case you do not mind if you roll up your puzzle in the puzzle mat, that you will NOT be able to roll up the majority of your puzzle pieces in your puzzle mat. You then put these back in your box (or puzzle sort trays) and you have to explain those puzzle pieces again (turn them over) if you want to start puzzling again and you unroll your puzzle mat again. If you're okay with this, a puzzle mat with a maximum size of 1000 centimeters (length) x 117 centimeters (height) will suffice for a puzzle of 66 pieces.

Choice of puzzle mat for situation: '2. you find it WEL bad if all your puzzle pieces do NOT fit on the puzzle mat'
In this case, I advise you not to buy from Kruidvat, since such a puzzle mat has a minimum size of 152 centimeters (length) x 100 centimeters (height). I myself have a puzzle mat for my 1000 piece puzzles that is 160 centimeters wide and 90 centimeters high. Very nice, gives you some extra space (check out this extra space and see how a puzzle of 1000 pieces is on such a puzzle mat) If you buy this size of a puzzle mat, all your 1000 pieces will certainly fit on it! So if you roll up your puzzle mat, you really roll up all your 1000 pieces in the puzzle mat and the next time you want to start puzzling again, you immediately roll out again when you unroll your puzzle mat. So ideal. If you like this situation, choose at least a puzzle mat with dimensions of 152 centimeters (length) x 100 centimeters (height). For example you can buy:
