| Description | This is a special Wasgij puzzle, published by Beverly Enterprises, a Japanese puzzle manufacturer. It is the puzzle Zondagsrijders, also known as Sunday Drivers. It is a Wasgij Original, which means you puzzle what the character on the box sees – in this case, what this figure observes in the distance. The item number is 63-179. What this number tells you: the 6 stands for the price range, the 3 stands for 300 pieces, and 179 is the puzzle number itself. This makes it a compact 300-piece puzzle that you can finish quickly. Beverly also publishes versions with 500 pieces (5) and 1000 pieces (1), followed by the puzzle number. This particular copy is rare. Japanese editions of Wasgij are almost never encountered. There are undoubtedly more puzzles in this series published by Beverly, but the back of the box provides no further information about them. The drawing itself is less rare. Zondagsrijders has also been released by Holdson Funny World, a puzzle manufacturer from New Zealand, in 500 and 1000 pieces. So you might already be familiar with the design, but for collectors, this Japanese edition is, of course, a completely different story. There is a lot of Japanese text on the box. What is written in English, however, is: "Beverly will create your enjoyable time." The dimensions are 88 by 26 centimeters, which likely differs slightly from the standard Dutch Jumbo sizes. Furthermore, it states "Made in Japan," lists a Beverly website, includes an extra number (031/3), and mentions Hausemann & Hötte Amsterdam, the predecessors of Jumbo. There is a surprisingly large amount inside the box (see the images above). The puzzle has clearly been completed before. As is often the case with Japanese puzzles: a small bag with a sponge and glue, because the Japanese regularly glue puzzles after completing them. Furthermore, there is a sealed envelope inside containing the solution to the Wasgij – unfortunately already opened and the solution thrown away, which is of course a shame for a Wasgij. There is also a card included, presumably with the text "Have a nice day" or something similar, and a loyalty points card – a typical feature of Beverly puzzles, which eventually allows you to order a free puzzle. Finally, a form for requesting a replacement puzzle piece, in case one is missing. The puzzle is illustrated by Graham Thomson. Note – a similar puzzle was also released with the number 63-180. |
