| Description | A rare Wasgij puzzle from JapanWelcome to a new video. In this video, I will show you a very rare puzzle. It is a Wasgij puzzle published by Beverly Enterprise, a puzzle manufacturer from Japan. On the box, we see the number 63-180. With these puzzles, the number has a meaning. The first digit, the 6, represents the price range of the puzzle. The second digit, the 3, indicates the number of pieces. In this case, it is a 300-piece puzzle. There are other variants as well, for example, a 5 for a 500-piece puzzle or a 1 for a 1000-piece puzzle. The last part of the number, 180, is simply the specific puzzle number within the series. On the box, we immediately recognize the famous scene from “Klein Verbouwinkje” (Little Renovation). This is a Wasgij Original puzzle. With this type of puzzle, you do not assemble the image shown on the box, but rather have to puzzle together what someone sees in the image. In this case, it is about what the fish in the bowl see. I should mention that this copy is number 63180, but I also have another puzzle from the same series, namely number 63-179. They actually belong together. They are, so to speak, brother and sister within the same series, and both consist of 300 pieces. Both puzzles were published by Beverly Enterprise. The quality and content of the puzzleWhat immediately stands out about this puzzle are the puzzle pieces themselves. The pieces are nice and thick and feel sturdy. I previously completed the other puzzle in this series, number 63179, and that one was very pleasant to put together. The pieces are smooth, sturdy, and fit together well. The solution to the puzzle is also included in the box. The Japanese really make something beautiful out of this. It is a sturdy, thick piece of paper that is neatly folded and has the solution printed on it. That piece of paper also features the company's slogan: “Beverly will create your enjoyable time”. Additionally, there is another piece of paper included, the purpose of which I am not entirely sure of. There is also a small envelope that once contained something. Japanese puzzles often include material for gluing the puzzle together. It turns out the Japanese often glue their puzzles after they are finished. If we look at the side of the box, we also see an image of what you ultimately have to puzzle. That is, in other words, what the fish are looking out of the bowl. Furthermore, the dimensions of the puzzle are also listed here: 38 by 26 centimeters. That size differs slightly from the dimensions we often see in the Netherlands for 300-piece puzzles. Naturally, the name of the manufacturer, Beverly Enterprise, and the fact that the puzzle was made in Japan are also on the box. On the sides of the box, we also see the manufacturer's website address. Additionally, there is some text and codes that I cannot translate precisely. On one of the sides, we also see the names Houseman and Hotte. These are predecessors of Jumbo from Amsterdam. There is also a reference to the Jumbo website. So, this is essentially what the puzzle looks like. It is a special and rare specimen. This puzzle is extremely difficult to obtain because it was published by Beverly Enterprise in Japan. As a result, it has truly become a collector's item. The funny thing is that the "Klein Verbouwinkje" scene is also available for purchase in the well-known Jumbo Wasgij variant. However, this Japanese edition is much rarer and therefore particularly interesting for collectors. |
