| Description | This series of puzzles is not very rare, you see them pass by every now and then. However, because of the special series it is still a collector's item and you pay more for these puzzles than for a normal Wasgij puzzle. This puzzle is part of a special edition of the Wasgij Imagine? puzzles, inspired by the British general election. This series contains scenarios in which different political parties (the Liberal Democrats, Labour and the Conservatives) win. The aim is to show the humorous and imaginative celebration of each party. The reason there are three variants is to represent the three main political parties in the United Kingdom. This series of puzzles can be recognized by the colors of the three boxes and their corresponding sequential numbering. This puzzle is the 'Blue' box and has the number 19108. The other puzzle from this series has the number 19106 and has a Yellow box. And finally there is the box with number 19107 and that is a Red box. The issue was made in 2010. The 2010 election resulted in a hung parliament, meaning that no party had an overall majority. This led to the formation of a coalition government. This was the first time this had happened in the UK since 1974. The Conservatives did win the most seats, but not enough to govern alone. The election marked the end of 13 years of Labour government under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. On the back of the box you will find two Hints. Hint 1 is this one: "If the Conservatives cross the line first! The General Election is fast approaching and all parties are campaigning to get your support, but imagine if the votes were counted and the Conservatives were victorious, how would the party celebrate?". Clue 2 is this: "Imagine you are with the Conservatives after their big victory. What would the scene look like? Where will they gather and who will be there? This is the scene you have to puzzle." On both the front and back of the puzzle you will most likely see a drawing of 'David Cameron'. In 2010, David Cameron was the leader of the Conservative Party (the Tories) in the United Kingdom. He had been party leader since December 2005. In the 2010 general election, Cameron led the Conservatives to the most seats, but failed to win an overall majority, resulting in a hung parliament. This led to the formation of a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats, with Cameron becoming Prime Minister and Nick Clegg Deputy Prime Minister. Cameron remained Prime Minister until 2016, when he resigned following the referendum on EU membership (Brexit). |
